Something interesting happened: I discovered many tricks to make my art look more professional by asking other artists how they did it. They prepared in advance! In other words, they have a buffer - a number of drawings they made on a productive day and they post them on the days when they can’t or won’t make a drawing. Everyone has their moments… It was tough to accept! So, I’m doing my best to reinstate my buffer. I have to admit, it’s hard - I have so much to do these days that time simply doesn’t lend itself to me recreating a buffer. But, I’ve been able to keep a 1-day buffer so far. I have to hope for the best for Inktober this year - so far so good! See my submissions on my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/laurencedeadionneart/
Jake Parker really is an example to follow. He’s someone who challenged himself to become a better artist. His YouTube videos are a testimony to that (https://www.youtube.com/user/jakeparker44). I’ve learned myself that being a good artist isn’t just about drawing well. It’s about accepting my faults, knowing I’m not always at my best and being okay with that, pacing myself and developing good habits - kind of like self-care! I have to admit, having a theme to rely on when I don’t have any ideas helps too, but I find it limiting sometimes. The theme really works as a guide, as long as I don’t put too much pressure on myself.
